Study Subject: Occupational/Environmental Health
Employer: Colt Foundation
Level: PhD
Scholarship Description:
The Foundation awards Fellowships each year to persons who are qualified in science or medicine who are carrying out research within the area of occupational and environmental health at a UK university.
The Fellowship is normally for three years and the research is expected to lead to a PhD degree. Prospective students should apply to Mrs Jackie Douglas, address below, and should include an outline of the proposed research which demonstrates the occupational content of their work, a CV, a detailed letter of support from the proposed supervisor and the contact details of two referees.

The stipend rate for the first year is £12,000 (£13,000 inside London), rising with inflation for the following two years. UK fees will be paid as incurred, together with a sum to cover research expenses. The grant does not attraction any taxation.

King’s-ESRC Doctoral Studentships in Social Science, UK

Postgraduate Studentships for the Applicants of EU and UK at King’s College London 2011-12 in UK
Study Subject: Social Science
Employer: King’s College London
Level: PhD
Scholarship Description:
ESRC studentships are available from the KISS-DTC for UK and EU students who meet residency requirements set out by the ESRC. Please consult the ESRC Postgraduate Funding Guide for full details on residential eligibility requirements.
Applicants for ESRC studentship funding must have applied for or already been accepted for admission to MPhil/PhD study in the social sciences at King’s, starting in 2011/12. While interdisciplinarity is a hallmark of research at King’s and we are keen to support social science research at the interfaces with the humanities, with the medical sciences, and with the natural and mathematical sciences, ESRC studentship funding is only available for projects that fall substantially (>66%) within the broad social and behavioural science remit of the ESRC.
ESRC studentship funding is highly competitive. In view of the limited number of awards and the very high standard of applications received, successful applicants are likely to have a very good first degree (BA or BSc Honours or equivalent), at first class standard (or upper second class with clear evidence of first class work), and typically also an appropriate Masters degree (at distinction or at least high merit level) and/or another appropriate qualification, such as prior professional or work-related expertise, relevant to your proposed area of study.
All admissions applications require two references to be submitted in support.
Please ensure that your chosen referees are aware of the funding deadline, as we will be using these to help us evaluate your ESRC studentship application.
