Scholarship Description
The Nigerian Women Association of Georgia (NWAG), founded in April 2000, awards the NWAG Scholarships in Georgia to Nigerian high school students living in the USA.
All NWAG scholarships are offered with a mission to empower women, youth and children in their adopted community in the United States and in their home country, Nigeria. As at 2016, NWAG has successfully awarded a one-time, one year scholarships to 470 female college students in Nigeria (see NWAG Scholarships in Nigeria) and 48 college-bound female students in Georgia, USA.
The Nigerian Women Association of Georgia has once again announced the take-off of the 2017 edition of its scholarship award -- 2018 NWAG Scholarships in Georgia. All eligible female applicants are invited to apply.
Eligibility
An applicant must be a Nigerian female or male.
All applicants must be Georgia high school students of Nigerian descent.
Eligible groups
Citizens and/or Residents of the United States (but must be of Nigerian descent)
Participating Institutions
Any recognized University / Institution of higher learning in the USA. Note that applicants must be bonafide high school students as at the time of application.

Two (2) scholarships will be awarded
Sponsorship duration
Awards are one-time one year scholarships
Scholarship benefits
The value of the award is five hundred dollars ($500.00) given to each successful applicant
Method of Application
To apply to this scholarship, you should download, complete and submit the 'NWAG Application Form' under 2018 NWAG Scholarships In Georgia as found on the official web site (link to it is below). This completed form should be submitted together with the materials and documents specified below under Requirements.
Requirements:
An applicant must be a male or female of Nigerian descent. All applications must include the following:
- Proof of State of Residence.
- Two Letters of Recommendation from any two of the following: Church Pastor/Mosque Imam, Principal, Teacher or Counselor.
- One Letter of Recommendation from either the Principal of school.
- Photocopy of your current high school student identification card
- A current photograph of yourself
- An explanation of why you need and should receive the scholarship (not more than one-half typed double spaced page).
- Proof of 10 Hours of community service
- A type-written, double –spaced, two-page essay on:
“The United States is said to be the country of immigrants, can you discuss the case of the “DREAMERS” or “DACA” in relation to the construction of USA-Mexican border wall that President Trump proposes?”
All application entries must be typewritten and double-spaced.

2017:
Discuss the significance of Nigerian cultural youth associations in Georgia in regards to the growth and development of young Nigerian Americans
2016:
How has the current inflation and its resultant high cost of living in Nigeria, affected the quality of education in Nigeria?”
2015:
“What is the one system in Nigeria, such as educational, political, health care, financial..., that you feel if changed would have the most beneficial impact on Nigerians, and why?”
