Scholarship Description
Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (otherwise called, HAW Hamburg) awards scholarships to its academically strong international students studying both its Bachelor degree programmes and Master degree programmes (see Scholarship for Master degree students).

The good news is that the City of Hamburg subsidises degree programmes at Hamburg universities, so the school does not charge tuition fees for national and international students except for professional Master's programmes.

Eligible students are invited to take advantage of these Academic scholarships for international HAW Hamburg Bachelor students, and apply to HAW Hamburg as outlined in the instructions below.

Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to apply for the scholarship:

• You are an international Bachelor student at the HAW Hamburg
• You have successfully completed at least two semesters at the HAW Hamburg and are studying in the Regelstudienzeit* (*the number of semesters defined for the completion of your degree). (If you are at the end of your studies, meaning that you only have one year left until you finish your studies, you can apply for the Final Year Scholarship.)
• You completed your school education outside of Germany or successfully graduated from a Studienkolleg.
• You are not entitled to BAföG, i.e. you do not fulfil the requirements of § 8 of the Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz (BAföG) (If you are unsure please contact the BAföG Amt. You should definitely do this if you do not have a residency permit according to §16 Aufenthaltsgesetz or are an EU citizen) 
• Applicants from engineering (BSc or BEng) degrees must have a grade point average of at least 2.9 
• Applicants from non-engineering (BA) degrees must have a grade point average of at least 2.5

Sponsorship duration
The scholarship is for one semester; an extension for a further two semesters is possible. You do not pay tuition fees. See student costs and financing page.

Scholarship benefits
The award has value of up to 400 Euros/month (4 months per semester).

Method of Application
The application has to be submitted via the plattform Mobility Online. The link will be posted on the official website once the application period has started. The requested documents on the official website must be submitted for the application (also if you are applying for an extension).
You can apply for more than one programme to increase your chances of getting a scholarship. It is however, not possible to be awarded a scholarship for more than one programme; i.e. you cannot get an Academic Merit scholarship as well as a Final Year scholarship.

DEADLINES:
There are two application deadlines -- 30th September (for winter semester) and 30th March (for summer semester). The current deadline is 30th September 2018 for the winter semester. Applications received after this deadline can unfortunately not be accepted
