Scholarship Description
The Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for selection into the Governor’s Special Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Programme for 2013/2014 session.
Eligibility (Who Should Apply)
These apply to all applicants:
- Must be of Rivers State origin (should submit a copy of LGA identification)
- Must be a Graduate of a recognised university with not less than second class upper honours degree (2:1) at the undergraduate level
- Must not be below 21 years or above 35 years old (Confirmation of age required, preferably by birth certificate)
- Must have completed NYSC
- Must have gained admission into any of the listed universities in the relevant fields of specialization for the masters programmes.
- PhD candidates must have a Masters degree (not below merit) and a good bachelors degree (not below second class upper)

Amount Spent on Each Student covers the following:
- Air Fare
- Tuition (School, Lab, Books, etc)
- Accommodation (Halls of Residence within the school; Private apartments outside the School)

Application forms can be downloaded from the official website (see link below).
Application forms can also be collected and submitted at the RSSDA office at No. 1 Igbodo Street, Old G.R.A, Port Harcourt.
APTITUDE TEST AND INTERVIEW:
- Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for online aptitude test through SMS, emails and notice posted on RSSDA website.
- Original copies of credentials will be sighted during the interview of shortlisted candidates.

Rivers state setting the pace for others to follow: imagine awarding scholarships to both Rivers indigenes and non-indigenes living in the state. The issue of "state of origin" or "indigenization" (call it whatever u like) has made a mess of citizenship in Nigeria. This policy shd be expunged from our constitution forthwith! I plead with other states to follow the shining example of like Rivers state by also provide scholarships, not only to their own indigenes, but much more for non-indigenes living in their states. ReplyDeleteIt's a good initiative and promotes advancement of knowledge, however it is a restcted scope,just sciences. What happens to lawyers from the state that intend to further their pursuit for academic excellence? If oil firms are restricting the scope, not the state government too. I'll plead that provisions be made for the legal practitioners so as to balance the educational background of the indigenes.

ReplyDeleteHi @stargirl, all applicants must first visit the official website at www.rssda.org to apply. Basically, there are 2 ways to apply to this scholarship:
Delete1) ONLINE - go to official website to fill the online form, then submit; OR
2) MANUAL - download / print out the form from the official website OR get the form from the physical address (see article above), then submit to the office at No. 1 Igbodo Street, Old G.R.A, Port Harcourt.
