Scholarship Description
The Jay Jay Okocha Scholarship was launched in 2009 in concert with the University of Bolton, Jay Jay Okocha and the English premiership football club, Bolton Wanderers.
There are 10 scholarships available for students from Nigeria applying to study at the University of Bolton, to start undergraduate or postgraduate courses from this September.
All Nigerian students at all levels are strongly encouraged to apply.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this award, you must be a citizen of Nigeria wishing to start an undergraduate or postgraduate study at the University of Bolton.
You must have applied to a course of study at Bolton University, and subsequently received an unconditional offer letter from the university to commence study.
The University, football star and football club are looking for students with 'a drive to succeed in the UK and able to display a serious commitment to academic study and contribute to the life of the university'.
Please note that applications for this scholarship will not be accepted unless you have an unconditional offer letter to study at the University of Bolton.

All courses of study that are offered at the university are eligible.
Education has been delivered on the site in Bolton since 1824 originally as Bolton Mechanics Institute. Over the last 186 years the institution went from strength to strength and after steadily improving its reputation Bolton Institute of Higher Education became the University of Bolton in 2005.
The University still prides itself on a very strong Engineering department with many courses including BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering achieving high rankings in numerous areas. The University now also offers a full range of courses within the fields of Business, Law, Computing, Science, Art, Design and of course Engineering.

Ten (10) scholarships have been made available
Sponsorship duration
Throughout the duration of study. Kindly note that most postgraduate Masters courses are for ONE academic year in the UK. Undergraduate courses would usually last for a maximum of four years. Continuous award of these scholarships is dependent on satisfactory performance of the students.
Scholarship benefits
Each student will receive a two thousand pounds (£2000) academic scholarship, personal letter of congratulations from Jay Jay Okocha and a Bolton Wanderers season pass, allowing access to 19 Barclays premier league matches.

Applicants will need to apply to the University of Bolton through one of the recommended Nigerian education agents. More information on this can be found on the official website (link to it is below).
Every applicant will be required to complete an "Application for Scholarship" form once they have received their unconditional offer letter, applications for scholarship will not be accepted before this point.

Deadline for the submission of the applications is Friday, August 28th 2009.
