Scholarship Description
The Sheffield Hallam University offers the International Achievement Scholarships programme to international students from any non-EU country applying to study at the University in 2012/13 academic year. All full-time undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses are taking part in the programme.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for an undergraduate scholarship you must:
  • be classed as an international student for fees purposes
  • have a high standard of secondary education
  • have, or expect to achieve, a minimum of IELTS 6.0 (5.5 in all areas) or equivalent*
  • have given a firm or insurance acceptance of your offer on your chosen course
  • be enrolling on a course with Sheffield Hallam starting in 2012/13 academic year
  • be able to evidence achievement in your personal statement
To be eligible to apply for a postgraduate scholarship you must:
  • be classed as an international student for fees purpose
  • have a good undergraduate degree
  • have, or expect to achieve, a minimum of IELTS 6.0 (5.5 in all areas) or equivalent*
  • be enrolling on a course with Sheffield Hallam starting in 2012/13 academic year
  • be able to evidence achievement in your personal statement
  • have submitted your course application and been given a conditional/unconditional offer
* Please note that IELTS 6.0 (5.5 in all areas) or equivalent is the minimum English language requirement to be eligible for the International Achievement Scholarship and that the English language requirement for entry onto some of our undergraduate and postgraduate courses may be higher.

Selection criteria:
The scholarships will be awarded to well-qualified students who demonstrate academic, personal or professional achievement in the personal statement on their scholarship application form.

Bangladesh, China, Ghana, India, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam, Rest of the world (non-EU countries)

Scholarship benefits
Successful applicants will be awarded with a certificate to mark their achievement at a Scholarships ceremony following enrolment on their course and a payment will be made after enrolment. This scholarship is not a reduction in fees.

Exclusions:
Please note that you can only be awarded one Sheffield Hallam University scholarship or bursary. If, for example, you are successful in applying for an International Achievement Scholarship, you would not be eligible to receive an International Access Scheme bursary. This also applies to any fee discounts you are awarded.

DEADLINES:
For scholarship applications for taught courses starting in September 2012, applications must be submitted by 30 June 2012. For taught courses starting in January 2013, applications must be submitted by 30 November 2012

PLEASE NOTE:
The Scholarships Panel will consider the quality of the personal statement alongside academic achievement when allocating scholarships. The panel will be held after the closing date and applicants will be notified approximately one month after the closing date using the contact details on your application record. The decision of the panel is final.
