Scholarship Description
African Canadian Continuing Education Society (ACCES) is happy to provide support for the best, brightest, and most vulnerable students, when they need it most through the ACCES Scholarship Program.
The flagship of ACCES is the Post-secondary Scholarship Program. ACCES provides partial scholarships to the brightest Kenyan students from the most vulnerable backgrounds, ensuring that they are able to complete their full course of studies.
Since 1993, ACCES donors have enabled more than thousands of high school graduates to continue their education through the ACCES Scholarship Program, and so to embark upon a career. All of the students are trained within Kenya.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants must be needy, bright, have a record of satisfactory educational achievement, and MUST have an admission letter to or be enrolled in a public College or university accredited with Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC.) or Kenya University and College Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
To be eligible for consideration, the applicant must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Must be a Kenyan Citizen, below 30 years of age, and from Busia, Bungoma, Kakamega and Vihiga Counties.
- Must have a minimum KCSE grade of C plain for college and C+ for University.
- For those already attending College/University and meet the above grades, must maintain a minimum grade B and above in academic performance.
- Must be either enrolled or have an admission letter to a Kenyan learning institution accredited with the KNEC or KUCCPS. Post-Graduate Program Students are not eligible.
- Students on Privately Sponsored Students’ Programmes (PSSP) in colleges and universities are not eligible to apply.
- College/University students must not be fully funded by Higher Education Loans Board (HELB). For those under the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) Program, only the college/ university undergraduates with a HELB loan of KShs.40,000 and below and demonstrating further financial need may be considered. ACCES Staff will verify the amount the candidate claims to have received from HELB at www.helb.co.ke.
- Students with DISABILITY who did KCSE from Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, Kisumu, Nandi, Siaya, TransNzoia, Uasin Gishu and Vihiga counties are eligible to apply.
- Must demonstrate the need for financial assistance by providing supporting documents outlining family circumstances as outlined on “ACCES 2 FORM”. Recommendation letters alone, without other supporting documents, will not be sufficient.

Successful applicants will receive a partial college or university scholarship from ACCES.
Since 1993, more than 3200 students have graduated from university and college with the help of an ACCES scholarship, many of whom have gone on to become top achievers in their professions.
Method of Application
To apply for a scholarship you must do two things:
- First, you must download and fill out a form to see if you will qualify for a scholarship.
- Second, if you qualify you can then download and fill out the second form to apply.
- At all County and Sub-county government ministry offices and Administration Offices in Busia, Bungoma, Kakamega and Vihiga Counties.
- At the ACCES Office in Kakamega in Milimani Estate, off state house road

NB: “ACCES 1 & 2 FORMS” ARE NOT FOR SALE.
Due to regulatory restrictions, ACCES is not able to fund students studying abroad, taking post graduate studies, or students from outside Kenya.
