Course Description
The Institute of Petroleum Studies at UNIPORT, Nigeria and The IFP School, France invite applications for Masters in Petroleum Engineering and Project Development Programme for 2016/2017 from suitably qualified candidates.

The Institute of Petroleum Studies was established in 2003 as a bold effort to remedy the skills gap between the theory of the classroom and the practical needs of the oil and gas industry in Nigeria. The aim of this professional Master’s Degree Programme is to provide graduates in Engineering with broad based training required for onshore and offshore oil and gas field development.

Admission is now open to suitably qualified candidates from the Sub-Sahara region of Africa.

Eligibility
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must possess a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree, Second Class Honours (Upper Division) in any branch of Engineering.

Consideration may be given to sponsored Company Staff with a minimum of 5 years relevant Upstream Petroleum experience with Second Class Honours Lower Division, but with CGPA greater than 3.0 on a scale of 5.0

Field of Study
The M.Sc. Petroleum Engineering and Project Development Programme is an International Collaborative Graduate Programme between IFP School, France and the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria and is sponsored by NNPC and TOTAL E & P Nigeria Limited Joint Venture.

Course duration
The programme shall have a duration of twelve (12) calendar months of intensive full time study. The Programme has no provision for break into sections/segment.

Course benefits
The Programme is run in the Institute of Petroleum Studies. The Institute offers full Internet access and virtual library, hands-on training using one computer per student. Students use industry software, case studies and undertake numerous field visits. Students are encouraged to live and work together, thus encouraging the development of team spirit.

The students will be taught jointly by lecturers from the University of Port Harcourt (UniPort), Nigeria, IFP School, France as well as experts from the petroleum industry within and outside Nigeria. IPS graduates have more than 90% chance of getting employed in the oil and gas industry on graduation.

AWARD OF DEGREE
Successful students at the end of the programme shall receive a Masters’ Degree jointly awarded by IFP School, France and the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION
Students may be exposed to programmes presented with Associate Environment Practitioners (AEP) Certification (NREP, USA).

It is a collaborative graduate school between the Ecole du Petrole et des Moteurs (IFP School), Paris, France, and the University of Port Harcourt.

In 2014, the programme graduated its first set of foreign students – 3 Ugandans from the M.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering and Project Development Programme. In 2015, it graduated 3 Ivoriens.
