Scholarship Description
The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) currently offers a number of scholarship opportunities based on various criteria and is also developing a policy for scholarship programs for undergraduate and post-graduate degrees with the aim to support human capital development that is aligned with the emirate’s social and economic goals.
Eligibility
The programme is open to Emirati students who have scored 85 per cent and above on their General Secondary Certificate or its equivalent at private schools.
University students who are already majoring in these subjects, and who have completed 30 credit hours while maintaining a cumulative 3.0 GPA are also eligible to apply.

Selection Criteria:
Applicants will undergo a stringent process and selected students are expected to continue to achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 throughout their university study.

The scholarship provides financial support to top graduating students to pursue university education in electronic engineering, aerospace engineering, architecture, mechanical engineering, material sciences, economics, accounting, finance and medicine, and other related fields.

The scholarship will enable selected students to study within the UAE at internationally accredited institutions. In addition to university tuitions, scholars will also receive a monthly allowance.

Scholarship Programs
1. Al Nokhba (Elite) Scholarship for Advance TechnologyThe Al Nokhba (Elite) Scholarship for Advanced Technology offers an opportunity for students to receive a world-class education and develop their careers in the field of science and technology. Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and Advanced Technology Investment Company (ATIC) have joined hands to sponsor UAE Nationals through their undergraduate and graduate engineering studies at leading universities in the UAE and abroad. In addition Al Nokhba scholars will have opportunities for internships and guaranteed employment after completion of their education at the semiconductor manufacturing company Global Foundries, or at other advanced technology companies nominated by ATIC.

Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and the Department of Transport (DoT) signed an MoU to sponsor 40 high-achieving Abu Dhabi students with scholarships in Transportation-related fields. The program will sponsor degrees both Bachelor’s in Transportation Engineering and Master’s degrees in Transportation Management and Planning. These programs will be delivered by the Abu Dhabi Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT). Scholars will be sponsored by ADEC and hired by DoT after graduation. In addition, students will complete internships at DoT during their four-year period of study.
3. Urban Planning Scholarships
Abu Dhabi Education Council provides Scholarship for the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council in different disciplines in the field of urban planning for the bachelor and master degrees. Scholars will be sponsored by ADEC and hired by Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council after graduation. In addition, students will complete internships at UPC during their four-year period of study.
4. Talented Scholarships Program
Vision
To be the focal point for development of a competent and qualified national workforce in Abu Dhabi by promoting and providing direction for academic and professional excellence, while partnering with the public and private sector and leading educational intuitions.

To distinguish the services we provide according to the Best Practices Standards, for Talented Scholarship Program; to achieve the goals of Abu Dhabi Government in Securing well qualified national human resources contributing to the economic and social growth of Abu Dhabi
Background
Pursuant to the Executive Council Decision no. (4/A), session 9/94, of 19th June, 1994, a scholarship system was created to provide the Public Sector with graduates of good standing. The decision defined the objectives of the system, the duties of the nominees' selection committee and the responsibilities of the Civil Service Department in support of the committee’s activity.
Meeting the needs of the employment market for the future is an important goal of any country. As the UAE expands its range of industrial and commercial activity as part of the growing economy, a well educated and qualified UAE national workforce is a key element in sustaining its success.
Now an established part of the Abu Dhabi Governments commitment to supporting high quality educational opportunities for UAE national in Abu Dhabi Emirate, the Abu Dhabi Scholarship program currently provides financial support for over 700 young national as they pursue their studies in a range of undergraduate and graduate programs. As the program continues to develop it is envisaged that it will be able to support some 1200 students on a range of programs that will help meet the growing needs of the Emirate.
Designed as a way to identify and support young nationals, who have the potential to play leading roles in both the government and private sector activities of the future, the ADSP has a network of support activities in place to help eligible young nationals as they pursue Higher Education opportunities.
Students currently in receipt of support through the Abu Dhabi Scholarship program span a wide range of academic study areas including management, health and medical education, engineering, human resources, accounting and finance, and information technology.

6. NIBRAS - Education Leadership Scholarship
The Education Leadership Scholarship objective is to develop the future leaders of Abu Dhabi’s education system and equip them with the skills and talents required for ADEC’s schools to prepare young people to deliver Abu Dhabi’s vision for the future. ADEC’s objective is to ensure that the leaders and teachers of Abu Dhabi’s schools provide children with the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary to deliver our Nation’s future. . As a result, ADEC is determined that the Principals and Vice Principals must demonstrate critical leadership skills that include:
- Inspiring teachers to engage, motivate and enable their students to achieve at the highest of international education standards while at school
- Promoting collaborative problem solving and encouraging open communication between students, staff, parents and the community
- Promoting a positive learning environment, providing an effective instructional program, encouraging students to practice what they learn and designing comprehensive professional growth plans for staff
- Collecting, analyzing and using data to identify school needs
- Using data to plan needed changes in instructional programs
- Implementing and monitoring the school improvement plan
- Using system thinking to establish a clear focus on attaining student achievement goals

7. Saadiyat Cultural District Museum Scholarships
Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and the Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) signed an MoU to sponsor 50 Scholarships annually for each of the academic years 2010, 2011 and 2012 to high-achieving students who are UAE Nationals in both the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in history of art, culture and heritage with particular focus on Museum studies such as Museums Studies, History of Art, Archeology, Cultural and Creative Industries, Fine Arts/Visual Arts, Cultural Anthropology. With the stipulation that the Scholars will be sponsored by ADEC throughout their scholarship program and then hired by TDIC’s partner Museums after graduation.

8. Food Control Scholarships
Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA), has launched Food Control Scholarship Program in order to ensure ADFC’s needs of qualified human capital in the area of food control are met. This comes in line with ADEC’s efforts to provide the labor market with highly qualified national workforce necessary for meeting the requirements of all sectors in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. Accordingly, scholarships have been granted to a group of students to pursue their studies in food control discipline at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Madinet Zayed (Western Region), under the supervision of and in accordance with ADEC’s rules & regulations. Upon successful completion of their studies, scholars will be employed by ADFCA.
