Scholarship Description
The Pilot International Foundation was established in 1975 to support the community-based work of Pilot Clubs by promoting the awareness and prevention of brain-related disorders, and improving the lives of those affected by such disorders, through education, volunteerism, financial support and research.
In addition, since 1949, the Ruby Newhall Memorial Scholarship has supported hundreds of international students in their quest for higher education in the United States or Canada.
Eligibility
The Foundation’s four Scholarship Programs support graduate and undergraduate students who will be working with those with disabilities, through the PIF, PIF/Lifeline, and Marie Newton Sepia Memorial Scholarships.
These students may be majoring in special education or speech pathology; they may be from the U.S. or The Gambia in Africa; they may be 19 or 42, but the one thing that students receiving a scholarship from PIF have in common is that they want to help others. Through contributions to these students’ educations, Pilot is able to reach millions of needy people around the world.

Scholarship benefits
Include:
- Ruby Newhall Memorial Scholarship: Scholarships of up to $1,500 to international students for undergraduate and Master's study in agriculture, business administration, computer information management, education, guidance counseling, healing arts and services, social service, the livestock industry, political science, psychology, public health, religion, home economics or journalism.
NOTE: Applicants must have spent at least one full semester in a college in the U.S. or Canada and have a 3.0 GPA. Deadline is December 1. - Maria Newton Sepia Memorial Scholarship: Awards up to $1,000 to graduate students planning careers with children with brain-related disorders or disabilities.
- Pilot International Foundation Scholarship: Provides assistance to undergraduate students preparing for careers working directly with people with disabilities or training those who will.
- Pilot International/Lifeline Scholarship: Awards up to $500 to part-time students and up to $1,000 to full-time students preparing for a second career, re-entering the labor market or obtaining additional training in their current fields.
NOTE: Applicants must intend to assist those with brain-related disorders or brain-related disabilities.
The Pilot International Foundation sponsors four scholarship programs:
- Pilot International Foundation Scholarship for undergraduate students preparing for a career helping those with brain-related disorders or brain-related disabilities.
- Becky Burrows Memorial Scholarship for graduate or undergraduate students preparing for a second career, re-entering the job market or obtaining additional training in their current field. The career path must pertain to assisting those with brain-related disorders or brain-related disabilities.
- Marie Newton Sepia Memorial Scholarship for students studying at the master’s or doctorate level who are preparing for a career helping children with brain-related disorders or brain-related disabilities.
- Ruby Newhall Memorial Scholarship.

Scholarships Foundation Documents:
NOTE: All applicants for a Pilot International Foundation scholarship must be sponsored by a Pilot Club in their home town, or in the city in which their college or university is located. We will not respond to any applications received by PIF without appropriate signatures by a Pilot Club president.
DEADLINES:
The scholarship application deadline is 15th of February annually.
Applicants are notified by June 30.
