Scholarship Description
The African Watt Club Fund offers the African Watt Club Scholarship to residents of an African country for every year of study at Heriot-Watt University.
The successful applicant to the African Watt Club Scholarship must be an individual who meets the following criteria as outlined below.
Eligibility
All individuals who wish to apply to this scholarship must meet the following criteria:
- Resident of an African country
- Individual’s family must earn less than £4,000 per year (evidence required)
- Evidence supplied of academic excellence
- Written evidence supplied of an individual’s desire to be a leader in their field
Citizens and residents of ALL African countries

Applications will be accepted for the Scholarship from 1 April 2011 until 15 June 2011.
PLEASE NOTE:
Award of the Scholarship will be on or before 29 June 2011.
The African Watt Club Fund was set up in May 2009 and aims to generate between £10,000 and £40,000 per year to allow scholarships of up to £10,000 to be awarded to students from Africa who would otherwise be unable to attend the University, due to financial restrictions.
The club awarded the first Scholarship(s) in June 2010 in time for the academic year commencing in September.
The scholarship board which decides on the award of the scholarship, includes representatives from the University staff as well as African graduates of the University.
