Scholarship Description
Every year, Danish higher education institutions receive a limited number of government scholarships, via the Danish Ministry of Education, to fund highly qualified full-degree students from non-European Union and non-European Economic Area (non-EU/EEA) countries or Switzerland.

The Government of Denmark welcomes highly qualified and motivated international students from all over the world to study in Denmark.

The Danish Government Scholarships can be awarded for a full degree programme or for part of a degree programme at undergraduate or postgraduate level.

Eligibility
In order to be eligible for a scholarship you must be:
  • a citizen of a country outside the EU, the European Economic Area or Switzerland
  • enrolled in a full degree higher education programme
  • granted a time-limited residence permit in Denmark due to education
You are NOT eligible for a scholarship if you are:
  • seeking admission to a university level institution of arts, design and architecture
  • have a legal claim to the rights of Danish citizens
  • have been granted a residence permit at the time of admission by the Danish Aliens Consolidations Act, as the child of a foreign citizen who has been granted a residence permit in accordance with the Danish Aliens Consolidations Act, and who is a citizen of a country that is not acceded to the EU or covered by the EEA agreement
  • are a student who is eligible for a grant in accordance with Danish Law regarding the State Education Fund
Eligible Groups
Citizens of ALL countries (EXCEPT students from the European Union, European Economic Area and European Free Trade Association [i.e. EU/EEA-EFTA] countries).

All participating higher education institutions (and Universities) in Denmark

Field(s) of study
All approved full-time and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the participating institutions. However, you may consult the admission details of the higher education institutions of your choice.

Number of awards
Not specified - a limited number of awards will be given each year

Sponsorship duration
Whole duration of undergraduate or postgraduate study

Scholarship benefits
The government scholarship consists of two parts and can be given as FULL or PARTIAL tuition fee waivers and/or GRANTS towards covering your living costs. However, as the scholarships are administered by the individual higher education institution, you should ask for further details at the institution of your choice.

Method of Application
The scholarships are administered by individual Danish higher education institutions, each of which decides which students will receive a scholarship. To apply, consult the admission details of the higher education institution of your choice.

Note that on contacting the institution offering the specific study programme of your choice, you will then be provided with specific application forms, entry requirements, course descriptions, deadlines and other student services.

DEADLINE:
Deadline varies depending on the student's University of choice and study programme; however, generally it is usually around 15 March every year. Please contact the institution of your choice for specific deadlines.
