Scholarship Description
The University of Leeds, UK offers a wide range of scholarships, for both domestic (UK and EU) and foreign international students from countries around the world, to pursue studies in a range of disciplines and courses available at the university.
Postgraduate students at Leeds benefit from around £10 million of funding being available from the University and externally. Individual University Schools also offer some scholarships.
These Taught and Research Postgraduate Scholarships are available to International, UK and EU students for study at Leeds. While some are partial fee awards, others are full scholarships covering fees and maintenance grants and other allowances.

The University offers a wide range of scholarships. Each scholarship has different eligibility requirements, usually relating to nationality, level of study and subject of study. Please check the requirements of the scholarship to ensure you are eligible before you apply.

Scholarship benefits
Most scholarships at the University of Leeds are only available to full-time students. However, the University Research Scholarship for PhD study and the Full Fee Scholarship for taught postgraduate master’s programmes are also available for part-time study.
Please note that the Full Fee Scholarship is only available for 12 months, so funding for the second year of a part-time master’s would need to be found from a different source. Some Research Councils also offer funding for part-time UK/EU students.

Method of Application
In most cases you can send your study application at the same time as your scholarship application. However, for some scholarships (eg FIRS), applicants will only be considered if they have already received a firm offer of an academic place to study at Leeds and applicants are therefore asked to submit their study application form well before the Scholarship closing date.
To apply for a graduate scholarship, visit the official website for access to a database of postgraduate funding opportunities at Leeds. Search the database for current opportunities according to your nationality, subject and level of study (i.e. postgraduate taught or postgraduate research degrees). Application forms for most scholarships are available to download from the website. If you are unable to access the internet, please send your full postal address to Leeds at Scholarships@leeds.ac.uk to receive a scholarship information booklet.
You can submit your scholarship application form by email (scholarships@leeds.ac.uk) in the first instance to ensure that Leeds receive a copy of your application before the closing date. The University will be able to process and consider an emailed application however, for some scholarships, you will also need to send a signed hard copy by post.

DEADLINES:
Graduate scholarships are awarded for studies commencing in either September or October. Pay particular attention to the closing dates for the submission of applications. Deadlines depend on scholarship you're applying for. Scholarships are awarded from March through to July each year.
PLEASE NOTE:
Scholarships are competitive and it is important to make enquiries and apply to all possible sources of funding at an early stage. As a general rule, Leeds will inform you of the outcome of your application approximately 8 weeks after the closing date of the scholarship competition. Some Scholarships, however, have a longer administration process.
You can apply for any scholarship for which you meet the eligibility criteria. If you are successful in more than one scholarship competition you will only be permitted to hold one full scholarship covering tuition fees and maintenance. You can hold more than one partial scholarship (for example you could hold one or more scholarships to meet the full cost of your fees and a separate maintenance scholarship.)
