Scholarship Description
Canon Collins Trust selects scholars on behalf of Edinburgh Business School (EBS) for its distance learning MBA scholarships. There are two intakes each year.

The aim of the MBA Scholarship Programme is to support life long learning amongst communities where it will make a positive contribution towards their development, and give individuals valuable post-graduate education which will enhance their day to day work.

Canon Collins Trust will select disadvantaged individuals who have the motivation and capacity to undertake the Distance Learning MBA, but who face funding difficulties.

Eligibility
To apply for a scholarship you must:
  • be a national of and ordinarily resident in a sub-Saharan African country
  • be able to say how the MBA will benefit you and your community
  • have a first degree from a recognised university or a professional qualification such as ACCA
  • be at least 25 years old and not older than 50 years old at the time of starting the programme
  • have at least 2 year's full-time work experience
  • have access to an operational Internet connection
You must NOT:
  • previously have studied an Edinburgh Business School course
  • already have a master's level business qualification
  • be studying towards another qualification
  • be able to pay for the course from your own resources
  • previously have applied for the scholarship more than twice
Selection Criteria:
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of financial need, intellectual ability, evidence of national and/or regional commitment, future impact.

Please note that applicants must be committed to using the knowledge, training and skills acquired on the MBA programme for the general benefit of their home community and country.

The MBA is comprised of 9 courses; 7 core courses and 2 elective courses.

Number of awards
EBS awards up to 50 full distance learning MBA scholarships per year

Scholarship benefits
This scholarship covers the cost of all tuition, learning materials and examination fees. Learning materials are available to access online and a hard copy is also sent to scholars by post.

The scholarship does not cover travel to examination centres or associated costs such as travel to the graduation ceremony.

Method of Application
Only online applications will be accepted. Please apply only if you are eligible.

The application process has two stages. Only the applicants successful in the first round will be invited to the second round. Unsolicited applications for the second round will not be considered.

DEADLINES:
There are two scholarship application rounds per year.

The closing date for the first round is in April-June, with applicants notified by the end of June; the closing date for the second round is September-December, with applicants notified by the end of December.

The closing date for applications for the current call is 25 June 2015.
