Scholarship Description
The Victoria University of Wellington offers the Victoria / Te Aro Equity Scholarship for Māori students; Pacific students; students educated at decile 1 to 3 secondary schools; students with disabilities; and students who can demonstrate financial hardship.

The purpose of this Victoria / Te Aro Equity Scholarship is to recruit an academically able student to a Bachelor's degree programme at Victoria University of Wellington who has attended Te Aro School for at least three years and who is represented in one of the following five targeted groups.

The Victoria / Te Aro Equity Scholarship may be held in conjunction with other awards, except for the Victoria School-Leaver Scholarship for Academic Excellence and Victoria Equity Scholarships.

Eligibility
Applicants must show to be one of the following:
Māori students; Pacific students; students educated at decile 1 to 3 secondary schools; students with disabilities; students who can demonstrate financial hardship.

Selection criteria:
Any student represented in one of the above groups who has attended at least three years at Te Aro School and who has completed or is completing their studies at a New Zealand secondary school and who has not already been enrolled as a full-time student in a degree level programme in a tertiary institution, is eligible to apply.

Within each identified group, applicants must show strong academic potential. This will be measured by the applicant's Year 12 results in NCEA level 2 or higher, or in an equivalent qualification. Applicants should have NCEA level 2 endorsed with Merit, or equivalent.

Applicants should be intending to enrol as a full-time student commencing a Bachelor's degree at Victoria University in the year following application and to have fulfilled University Entrance requirements and Victoria admission requirements.

All offers of scholarships will be conditional upon the award recipient gaining NCEA level 3 in Year 13, with at least 25 credits at Merit or better, or equivalent in another qualification.

Scholarship benefits
The value of the award is $5,000. The scholarship will be credited to Victoria tuition fees or to Victoria hall of residence costs.
