Scholarship Description
The Cape Tercentenary Foundation funds the Dudley D’Ewes Scholarships for post-graduate study beyond the Honours degree, for which a separate application must be made. These are advertised in August of each year and are awarded in the following year.
The mission of the Cape Tercentenary Foundation is to preserve, promote and encourage literature, the visual and performing arts and the natural and cultural environment of the Western, Eastern and Northern Cape Provinces. It may not, therefore, fund anything that falls outside this prescription.
Eligibility Criteria
They are open to all in possession of a University Honours degree and candidates must potentially contribute to the fulfilment of the Foundation’s mission.
Studies must be undertaken in South Africa.

At the discretion of the Foundation, scholarships may be renewed in whole or in part for a further period not exceeding one year provided the candidate submits a satisfactory Progress Report from the Supervisor/s.
Scholarship benefits
Awards up to the value of R10 000 each for post-honours studies are awarded annually.
The Scholarship award will be deposited into the fee account of successful applicants.
Method of Application
Interested applicants are required to download and complete an application form, and also all applications need to be supported by at least two referees.
Completed application forms together with REFEREES’ REPORTS (Appendix A) must be received by the Foundation by the last Friday in September. Supply the form to your referees or inform them where to download it and make sure they meet the closing date deadline. Incomplete application forms will not be processed.
Attach a ONE PAGE ABSTRACT (Appendix B).
The assistance of the Foundation should be acknowledged in the manner described under Acknowledgement: (Appendix C)

DEADLINES:
Dudley D’Ewes Scholarships are advertised in August of each year and awarded the following year.
Completed application forms together with REFEREES’ REPORTS (Appendix A) must be received by the Foundation by the last Friday in September. For the 2016 session, deadline is Friday 25th September, 2015.
PLEASE NOTE:
Successful applicants will be informed six weeks after the last Friday in September.
Successful applicants may be required to deliver a short lecture at the Foundation’s AGM.
The Cape Tercentenary Foundation (or Cape 300 Foundation) was set up in 1950 by brothers Edward and Harry Molteno, pioneers of the Cape fruit industry. The influential exporters were great appreciators of music and the arts, and were deeply concerned about the natural environment. They therefore wanted to establish "a fund for the cultural development of Cape Town" as well as for environmental causes.
