Scholarship Description
Carnegie Corporation of New York has extended support to Makerere University to implement the project titled: “Building, Nurturing and Retaining the next generation of African Academics” under the broad theme of Food, Nutrition and Value Addition.

Part of this grant will support fourteen (14) emerging Junior Academics (at least 50% women) to complete their Masters degrees by providing tuition and research funds. The expected outcome is excellent graduates mentored to embark on research that will contribute to national development and be part of the international community of scholars.

The School of Graduate Studies now invites applications to compete for these funds.

Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following conditions:
  1. They must be members of academic staff at Makerere University from any discipline
  2. They must complete masters program in a maximum period of two years
  3. Applicants may come from any College/School of the University
  4. Staff at any level of their Masters degree program are eligible to apply i.e. freshly admitted, those in first or second year of their study
  5. Fifty percent (50%) of the grant is reserved for female applicants

Any discipline at the university. However, the project will be implemented under the broad theme of Food, Nutrition and Value Addition.

Number of awards
Ten (10) scholarships were awarded during the first round. There are now only four (4) scholarships remaining to be awarded to deserving female applicants

Scholarship benefits
Support includes tuition and research costs based on activities.

Method of Application
Applications in a soft and three hard copies should be submitted to: the School of Graduate Studies, Research and Publications Office, Lincoln Flat B5 by the deadline date stated below.
