Position Description
The Institut Català de Nanotecnologia (ICN) is a research institution recently launched to conduct wide-scope edge research in several areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
The ICN recently set up a state of the art nanofabrication laboratory to assist the research work held from the research groups within the institute. The nanofabrication laboratory is equipped with nanolithography, metal deposition and characterization equipment.
The institute seeks a candidate to be employed as a maintenance technician in this laboratory.
Eligibility
For this designated tasks for this position, the following are desirable in the applicant:
- The applicant should have basic knowledge in vacuum techniques, electronics/electrical instrumentation, mechanics, designing (exp. Autocad) and computer operation.
- The person will work closely with the senior laboratory engineer in charge of the ICN nanofabrication division and will be strongly encouraged to assist in the research work of the laboratory.
- The candidate should have significant experience (2-5 years) in the field of equipment maintenance and/or a university degree in a relevant technical field.
- English and Spanish language is a prerequisite.

Main Tasks
His/her main task will be to daily maintain the nanofabrication equipment. In particular he/she will be in charge for providing the necessary inspections, assessments and services to the equipment which will enable a smooth operation of the laboratory.
The maintenance technician will also be in charge to prevent, examine and provide solutions to possible mechanical and electrical failures of the equipment and be responsible for the efficient external supplies (gases, vacuum, water, etc) to the equipment circuits.
