Scholarship Description
The topic of this Ph.D. project is the valuation of travel time variability. In general, this valuation can be achieved through measurement of traveler preferences concerning trade-offs involving travel time variability, which can be carried out in choice experiments.

The scholarship is mainly financed by the Danish Council for Strategic Research.

Eligibility
The school is looking for candidates with the following:
  • Candidates must have a master degree in economics, mathematical economics, or equivalent academic qualifications.
  • Candidates are expected to be able to make empirical and theoretical contributions to the subject.
  • Good command of the English language is necessary.

The Ph.D. project concerns the economic costs of travel time variability. A large share of road congestion delays in large urban areas is due to non-recurring events, causing travel times to become random and unpredictable from the travelers perspective. Understanding and measuring the costs of travel time variability is important for transport policy.
