Scholarship Description
The Kelly Engineering Resources® Future Engineers Scholarship is designed to encourage United States and Canadian student interest in engineering and to build awareness of engineering as a career path with unlimited potential.
The purpose of the Future Engineers Scholarship Program is to alleviate a critical current and future shortage of highly qualified engineers. This scholarship is open to all United States and Canadian students.
Eligibility
To be considered for eligibility for the Future Engineers Scholarship, candidates must:
- Be full-time students at the time of application submittal, pursuing a degree at an accredited institution of higher education in the United States or Canada during the calendar year, and be accepted into the School of Engineering.
Scholarships will not be awarded to 1st Year undergraduate students, or those 4th Year undergraduate students who will be graduating on or before June of the award year. - Students must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale (or 3.5 on a 4.5 scale, and so forth).
- Be a United States citizen, a resident/landed alien, or in the case of candidates from American Samoa or the Commonwealth of the Mariana Islands, a United States national. Submissions must include a letter reflecting the candidate’s intent to obtain employment in the field of engineering in the United States or Canada.
Demonstrated potential for and commitment to a career in engineering, as well as outstanding academic performance. Essays will also be judged based on depth of knowledge and awareness of the issue and/or challenge addressed, as well as creativity, composition and originality.
In awarding the scholarship, the Kelly Engineering Review Committee will consider the candidate’s field of study and career objectives and the extent to which that individual has the commitment and potential to make a significant contribution to his or her field.

Scholarship benefits
One winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship to be used toward eligible expenses for tuition, fees, books, and room and board during the 2017 calendar year.
The winner will be invited to visit a local Kelly Services branch and will be presented with a check payable to his or her current institution. The winner will also receive a commemorative plaque.
The winner will be announced and a news release will be distributed to national media, local media in the winner’s hometown, and the winner’s university paper.
Method of Application
The application materials can be downloaded from the Kelly Engineering Resources website (click here: www.kellyengineering.com/scholarships). Materials must be submitted on the official forms provided and mailed to the program administrator by the October deadline below.
Submissions must include Candidate Background Information Form; Candidate's Essay (must be between 800 and 1200 words, typed and submitted electronically, written by the student and in answer to a specific question posed by Kelly Engineering Resources); Two Independent Evaluations of the candidate (mailed to address below); and An official college or university transcript from the student’s current institution and any other institutions that have been attended (mailed to address below).

DEADLINES:
All application materials must be received no later than October 14, 2016, with all required supporting documents. Any essays postmarked after October 14th will not be considered.
