Scholarship Description
With the aim to encourage female students to pursue their career in engineering and be an active part of economic growth in Nigeria, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) in conjunction with the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) has instituted an annual scholarship programme for female engineering students in Nigerian higher institutions.
Eligibility
Applicants will be female engineering students in any of the tertiary institution in Nigeria.
APWEN is soon expected to come out with the full criteria for awarding the scholarship to the deserving candidate.
Purpose
- To assist in the current drive of raising more women engineers in the Nigeria.
- To encourage women in all fields of human endeavor to fulfill their aspirations in life and not be relegated to the background

In the News: Annual Scholarships for Nigerian Women in Engineering

Below is the news as published on ThisdayLive:Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has instituted an annual scholarship of N250, 000 to support each beneficiary for the training of female engineers in any of the tertiary institutions in the country.
The Managing Director of the agency, Mazi Nnamdi Udoh, who announced weekend in Lagos at the inauguration of Felicia Agubata as the 4th chairperson of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), said the scholarship would assist in the current drive of raising more women engineers in the country.
APWEN is expected to come out with the criteria for awarding the scholarship to the deserving candidate. The managing director, who extolled the engineering feat of the new APWEN chairperson in NAMA, said that women in all fields of human endeavour should be encouraged to fulfill their aspirations in life and not be relegated to the background.
He equally disclosed that the agency would be ready to donate some of its decommissioned radar and communication equipment to some universities to expose students to practical training on subjects relating to electro-mechanical engineering. Agubata stated that APWEN, launched since 1983, has a membership of about 1,500 registered female engineers, adding that the association has consistently contributed to the encouragement of the Girl-Child in taking up science courses.
According to her, APWEN had been encouraging the raising of female engineers by giving awards and prizes annually to the best female engineering graduate and the best three female students in tertiary examinations nationwide.
