Scholarship Description
The Government of the Republic of Indonesia offers two main schemes of scholarship to foreign students, the Beasiswa KNB Scholarship and the Darmasiswa Scholarship; other occasional schemes, as well as technical courses and training in various sectors, may also come up in cooperation with international organizations or countries.

Since 1993, the Indonesian Government have been offering postgraduate (master degree) scholarships, the Beasiswa Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) (or called Developing Countries Partnership program on Scholarship) to students from developing countries to study at one of the universities in Indonesia.

The objectives of the Developing Countries Partnership Program on Scholarship (Beasiswa KNB) programme are to Promote a deeper cultural understanding among developing countries; Strengthen the relationship and to initiate the mutual cooperation among developing countries; AND Actively contribute to the development of human resource quality.

Eligibility
Requirements include:
  • Maximum age of 35 years old;
  • Possession of a bachelor degree;
  • Not a Master Degree Holder;
  • Have a TOEFL score of 500 or equivalent;
  • Complete the on-line application form;
  • He/she must be recommended by the Indonesian Embassy in the respective country;
  • He/she must be in a good health proved by an official medical statement from an authorized medical practitioner;
  • Prior to the departure to Indonesia, the Successful candidates will be required to sign a statement letter provided by the KNB Scholarship management

Sponsorship duration
Offered for a 3-year period - 8 months of Indonesian Language Program, 4 months of Master Preparatory Program, AND 24 months (4 semesters) of the Master Programs

Scholarship benefits
The KNB scholarship will be covering:
  1. Settlement Allowance of Rp.1.000.000, - will be given upon arrival in Indonesia;
  2. While taking the Indonesian language course and preparatory programs, a student will receive Rp. 1.650.000,-/month (Living allowance only);
  3. During their Master Program, the students will receive monthly allowances as follow:
    • Living Allowance = Rp. 1.650.000,-
    • Research Allowance = Rp.400.000,-
    • Books Allowance = Rp.350.000,-
  4. The scholarship will be provided for a maximum of 36 months period of study (In case of early program completion, the scholarship will be stopped soon after the student set off for their home country);
  5. A health insurance with a maximum of Rp.200.000,- monthly premi (In case of the cost of medical services exceeded to those covered by the health insurance, the difference should be borne by the student);
  6. A round-trip international airfare (economy class) from the international airport of the student’s home countries to Indonesia, including local transport to the host university;
* Note: Other expenses beside those mentioned above will be borne by the students

Method of Application
To apply, follow the steps below:
  1. Download Invitation letter from the KNB Scholarship website(www.knb.dikti.go.id - link below);
  2. Bring the Invitation letter, Passport or Birth Certificate, Academic Certificates and Academic Transcripts to the Indonesian Embassy to acquire the recommendation letter;
  3. Complete the online application process (www.knb.dikti.go.id - see link below);
  4. The Selection Process will be conducted based on on-line application data;
  5. The Selection Results will be published in the KNB Scholarship Website (www.knb.dikti.go.id - see link below) and through the Indonesian Embassy publication channel;
Required documents must be submitted, and include: Recommendation letter from the Indonesian Embassy in the respective country; Nomination letter from the respective government official; 2 Academic Recommendation letters; Scanned passport (personal data page only) or birth certificate; Scanned bachelor certificate and academic transcripts (in English); Scanned TOEFL score certificate obtained within the last 2 Years; AND Scanned Medical Statement.

DEADLINES:
The application process must be completed no later than end of April (on/before 30 April 2013). Selections will be conducted on 1st week of May; and the selection result will be announced on 1st week of June

PLEASE NOTE:
Following the resolutions of the Tenth Conference of Heads of States of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) countries in September 1992, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in 1993 started offering postgraduate (master degree) scholarships to students from the NAM member countries. Since 2002, after the cold war ended, the program was offered not only to the NAM member countries, but also to developing countries. Due to international political escalation, the use of the term “NAM” was considered irrelevant. Therefore, the program was changed to Beasiswa Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) or Developing Countries Partnership program on Scholarship.
