Scholarship Description
Newcastle University (NU) is delighted to announce the Newcastle University Nigeria Scholarship (NU Nigeria Scholarship) awards.

Every year, NU offers this scholarship and welcomes applications from Nigerian students.

These awards are available for high achieving Nigerian students applying for entry into postgraduate Masters degree programmes at NU and commencing their studies in September 2016.

Newcastle University is a public research university located in Newcastle upon Tyne in the North-East of England.

Eligibility
You could be eligible to apply for a NU Nigeria Scholarship if:
  • You have been offered a place on any postgraduate Masters degree programme.
  • You are a Nigerian national and have been assessed as international/overseas for fees purposes.
  • You have a Second Class Upper degree or higher from a recognised Nigerian University and satisfy all other requirements
  • You intend to register to start your studies during the 2016-17 academic year
  • You are a self-funded student and not in receipt of other University or external awards
Selection Criteria:
Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of best qualified students and content of personal statement - in consultation with Head of International Recruitment and faculty representatives.

English Language Requirements:
Students from Nigeria require an English language qualification to enter programmes at the University. English language requirements can vary from programme to programme.

Number of awards
Five awards were awarded in 2014/2015 year; however for the 2016/2017 academic session THREE scholarships will be awarded

Sponsorship duration
The award is a one time money support for the first year tuition fees

Scholarship benefits
Each scholarship will have a value of £5000 payable towards your first year of tuition fees

Method of Application
To be considered for the NU Nigeria Scholarship programme, you must already have applied for and been offered a place to study at the University. Application for the NU Nigeria Scholarship is separate from application for a place to study at NU.

The scholarship applications must be done by completing an application form electronically and in accordance with the Country Specific Scholarships Regulations.

It is important to visit the official website (link to it is below) for complete information on how to apply for this award, and also for access to all forms.

DEADLINE:
The annual deadline for submitting applications is 30th June every year. The closing date for receipt of applications for the 2016/2017 session is 30th June 2016.

PLEASE NOTE:
NU Nigeria Scholarship applications cannot be considered for candidates unless they have already applied for and been offered a place to study at the University.
