Scholarship Description
The Boustany Astronomy Scholarship supports exceptional individuals wishing to pursue research that will advance scientific knowledge of space and the universe.
The scholarship is merit based and is open to all deserving indivuals who are accepted to the PhD programme at The Institute of Astronomy at Cambridge University. Scholarship recipients become members of Pembroke College.
The Boustany Astronomy PhD Scholarship is granted once every three years. Successful scholars are expected to participate in the Boustany Foundation Internship.
Eligibility
The Boustany Astronomy Scholarship is offered to an outstanding and highly-meriting candidate from all nationalities who must have an excellent academic background.
Candidates must also fulfil the admissions requirements of the Institute and show exceptional ability and promise.
The scholarship recipient is required to complete a summer internship (2 months) at the end of the second year of the PhD, carrying no salary, with the Boustany Foundation.

Scholarship benefits
The Scholarship offers the following:
- Financial aid covering tuition and college fees
- Travel and accommodation expenses related to the internship
Candidates may apply for the Scholarship after receiving an offer for a place at the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge. If you wish to apply, please send a copy of your curriculum vitae with a photograph and acceptance letter from the University to: admissions@boustany-foundation.org (Reference ASTRONOMY).
If shortlisted, you may be invited to an interview with the Foundation. One candidate will then be awarded the Scholarship.

The next Scholarship for a PhD at the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge, will be awarded for the class commencing Autumn 2018. The Scholarship will be awarded during the month of April 2018.
With history dating back to 1823, the Institute of Astronomy at Cambridge University is globally acknowledged as one of the world's foremost institutes. Scholarship recipients become members of Pembroke College, the third oldest and one of the most highly regarded colleges.
Established in 2006 by Nabil Boustany and his son Fadi, the Boustany Foundation is present in Switzerland and Monaco. Preceding the Foundation itself, the first Boustany Scholarship was awarded in 1997 to an MBA student at the University of Cambridge. The Foundation has since awarded many scholarships in various fields with plans to create more opportunities in the coming years for exceptional students.
Today, the Boustany Foundation is actively engaged in promoting and managing scholarship and aid programmes - all of which have ambitious plans for further development, global reach and scope.
