Scholarship Description
The Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is pleased to offer a range of scholarships for international students starting a course at the school, among which is The Brenda Howe Africa Scholarship. This is a fantastic opportunity which will help get your time at NTU off to a great start.

The Brenda Howe Africa Scholarship is open to all postgraduate offer holders from Africa holding offers to study at the University. This scholarship award covers full tuition fees.

The University is delighted to offer the full fee Brenda Howe Africa Scholarship for African students starting a course, undergraduate or postgraduate, at the University in September 2016.

The Brenda Howe Africa Scholarship

Eligibility
To be eligible for consideration of Brenda Howe Africa scholarship, applicants must:
  • have been offered a place on an eligible full-time undergraduate or full-time postgraduate course (excluding MBA, GDL, LPC, BPTC and exchange students), please check the list of eligible courses at www.ntu.ac.uk/internationalscholarships; and
  • be classed as overseas students for tuition fee purposes; and
  • have an African nationality.
Students who are sponsored by their employers, government or a funding body (full / part) are not eligible to apply for this scholarship award.

Applicants are only able to apply to the Brenda Howe Africa scholarship once per academic year per offer of a place on a qualifying course.

Selection criteria:
Scholarships are competitive and selection is based on the information you provide on the application form. It is, therefore, of great importance that you give your personal statement careful thought and preparation and you refer to the criteria provided.

Sponsorship duration
This is a financial aid covering your stay at NTU. The University reserves the right to revoke the scholarship if you leave the University before completing the programme

Scholarship benefits
Scholarships of up to full-fee are available.

Scholarships will be available in the form of a tuition fee reduction. If you are awarded a scholarship your tuition fee will be adjusted before enrolment.

Although the Brenda Howe Africa Scholarship will cover the full amout of your tuition fees, but note that you will need to be able to pay accommodation fees and other general living costs yourself.

Method of Application
Only the official application form (found on the official website) can be used to apply for the full-fee Brenda Howe Africa Scholarship. Complete this application form – make sure you fill in all sections. Then, send your completed form to international@ntu.ac.uk before the deadline date (see below).
The scholarship will only be awarded once an applicant accepts and meets the conditions of their offer, accepts their scholarship offer and is eligible to enrol on the full-time undergraduate or full-time postgraduate course.

DEADLINES:
There is one scholarship application deadline for the Brenda Howe Africa scholarship. This is the final deadline of 4 pm GMT 22 June 2016. Any applications received after this date will not be considered.

PLEASE NOTE:
All applicants will also automatically be considered for the NTU £2,000 International Development Scholarship.

If you are awarded the Brenda Howe Scholarship you will not be eligible to receive any other scholarship, bursary and / or tuition fee reduction from the University. If you are awarded an International Scholarship and are awarded any other scholarship, bursary and / or tuition fee reduction from the University, the maximum amount awarded will not exceed more than half the tuition fee for the course.

The scholarship is not transferable and will not be awarded if you choose to defer your entry to a different academic year or if you choose to transfer to a different course at the University.

Applicants will be informed of whether they have (or have not) been awarded a scholarship (with the value of the scholarship award if they have been awarded) within three weeks of the application deadline dates.

Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is a public university in Nottingham, England. It was founded as a new university in 1992 from Trent Polytechnic (later Nottingham Polytechnic). Its roots go back to 1843 with the establishment of the Nottingham Government School of Design which still exists within the university today. It is the 16th largest university in the UK (out of 165) with students split over three different campuses.
