Are you looking to make a significant impact on the world by promoting tolerance and cooperation? Rotary International offers the fully funded Rotary Peace Fellowship for Masters Degree and Professional Development Certificate for young professionals around the world.
Each year, through the Rotary Peace Fellowships, Rotary Foundation selects and funds some of the world’s most dedicated and brightest professionals to study Certificate or Masters Degree programs related to peace and conflict resolution and prevention at any one at its Rotary Peace Centers.
The Rotary Peace Fellows are leaders promoting national and international cooperation, peace, and the successful resolution of conflict throughout their lives, in their careers, and through service activities.
Eligibility
The Rotary Peace Fellowship is designed for professionals with work experience in international relations or peace and conflict prevention and resolution. Fellows are committed to community and international service and the pursuit of peace.
Applicants must also meet the following requirements:
- Proficiency in English; proficiency in a second language is strongly recommended
- Strong commitment to international understanding and peace as demonstrated through professional and academic achievements and personal or community service
- Excellent leadership skills
- Master’s degree applicants: minimum three years of related full-time work or volunteer experience, bachelor’s degree
- Certificate applicants: minimum five years of related full-time work or volunteer experience, strong academic background
Rotary Peace Fellowships may not be used for doctoral study. And the following people are not eligible for the master’s degree program:
- Active and honorary Rotary members
- Employees of a Rotary club or district, Rotary International, or other Rotary entity
- Spouses, lineal descendants (children or grandchildren by blood or legal adoption), spouses of lineal descendants, or ancestors (parents or grandparents by blood) of any living person in these categories
- Former Rotary members and their relatives as described above (within 36 months of their resignation)
Rotary Peace Fellows who have completed the master’s degree program must wait five years to apply for the certificate program.

[Fellows can earn either a Master’s Degree in international relations, public administration, sustainable development, peace studies, conflict resolution, or a related field, or a Professional Development Certificate in peace and conflict resolution.]
Number of awards
Up to 100 Rotary Peace Fellows are selected, consisting of up to 60 master’s degree fellows and up to 50 professional development certificate fellows
Sponsorship duration
Master's degree has a 15- to 24-month course program. Study timelines differ according to each university’s schedule. There is a two- to three-month practical internship during summer break.
The Professional development certificate is a 3-month course of two sessions per year (January-April and June-August). There is a two to three weeks of field study incorporated into its curriculum.
Scholarship benefits
The Fellowship includes tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, internship/field study expenses.

Interested candidates must apply for Rotary Peace Fellowships through their local Rotary club. Use the Club Locator to find your nearest Rotary club contact information. If your hometown does not have a Rotary club, try entering the names of nearby cities. You also can try searching for Rotary club websites.

DEADLINES:
Rotary International is now accepting applications for the 2017-18 Rotary Peace Fellowships program. Candidates have until 31 May to submit applications to their district. Districts must submit endorsed applications to The Rotary Foundation by 1 July.
PLEASE NOTE:
Rotary started in 1905 with the vision of one man—Paul P. Harris - a Chicago attorney who formed one of the world’s first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on 23 February 1905.
It evolved as a member-organization where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member.
