Scholarship Description
Aston University offers an extensive range of exciting research opportunities through PhD Programmes in Biomedical Sciences, Health Sciences and Neurosciences within its School of Life and Health Sciences (LHS), for which there may be a number of studentships for students to apply to.

If you would like to apply for one of these postgraduate research opportunities (a PhD, PD, MD opportunity) within Aston University School of LHS, then you must fulfil all entry requirements. You are also invited to apply for any available studentships available as at the time of your application.

Applications are invited for these PG research opportunities and available research studentships to be undertaken in LHS at Aston University. The LHS is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to pursue cutting-edge research.

Eligibility
If you would like to apply for a PhD/PD/MD opportunity within the School of Life & Health Sciences (LHS) :
  • You should have been awarded the UK equivalent of either a 1st or a 2:1 Honours degree in a relevant subject; or
  • have an MSc and/or similar award or experience deemed to provide evidence of research potential
Non-native speakers of English are normally also required to satisfy minimum English language requirements. Aston University School's requirements are:
  • IELTS: Minimum Overall Score of: 6.5 (minimum of 6.0 in each section); or
  • TOEFL (Internet-based Only): Minimum Overall Score of 93 (minimum in Reading: 18, Writing: 23, Listening: 19 and Speaking: 19); or
  • PEARSON: Minimum Overall Score of: 63  (minimum of 57  in each section).
Selection Criteria:
Studentships will be awarded competitively on merit.

Number of awards
A total of Twelve (12) scholarships are available. Six (6) have been reserved for Indian students only.

Sponsorship duration
Scholarships are for 3 years, subject to a satisfactory progress review at the end of the first year, and are available for July 2013 or October 2013 Registration.

Scholarship benefits
The scholarships will cover payment of £7,000 per year towards tuition fees [International fees: approx. £14,200 per year].
