The Search for the next big Idea begins...

Applications are being accepted for the 2013 Wennohunt 1.0 Business Idea/Plan Competition for undergraduate students in Nigerian universities. The competition is a brainchild of Wennovation Hub, a Lagos-based innovation incubation platform.

Eligibility
The following Entry Criteria apply:

• Undergraduates in any Nigerian University
• Undergraduate status valid in 2013
• Teams of 2 to 5 students (Individual Entries will not be accepted)

Eligible groups
Citizens of Nigeria ONLY

Participating Institutions
All Nigerian universities and institutions of higher learning

Fields of study
All Business Ideas or Plans are eligible, whether you are trying to solve a problem, meet a need or even change the world

Number of awards
Several winners at different stages. However, only three (3) FINAL winners will emerge

Scholarship benefits
Three winners will emerge from the final round who will proceed to the business incubation phase and their prizes (meant for incubation) are as follows:

• 1st Prize: $6,000
• 2nd Prize: $5000
• 3rd Prize: $4000

Method of Application
This competition is run on istart (see official website). Entry into the competition is in two steps:

1. Register for an istart account on the official website via link below. Fill in all required details.
2. After successful registration, you will then be able to upload your idea/executive summary and also provide your team details.

Note that only team leaders should fill the form. The team leaders will provide emails of other team members and invitation to join the team will be sent to these other team members.

The Business Idea Challenge – How it works:
Participants will submit a 2-page executive summary to be uploaded to Wennovation online platform developed for the competition. Nine winners/teams, 3 each from the University of Ibadan and Covenant University (Wennovation's two Partner Universities) and 3 from other Nigerian universities, will win $100 cash prizes each and will move on to the next phase which will be an inter-university competition among the winners from the qualified schools.

There will also be consolation prizes for the top 5 runner ups which will include access to exclusive mentoring and business plan templates. Also, winners and runners up will be matched to form single teams around winning ideas. i.e. Runners up will be encouraged to join winning teams to give them a chance to compete in the inter-university event.

DEADLINES:
Application deadline is June 30, 2013 at 11:59pm Nigerian time.

The prizes above will be used for Business development and Incubation.

Upon success of business development and incubation, Wennovation Hub will assist participants to raise proof of concept funds and enter the market as full fledged businesses.
