Scholarship Description
The 2013 Youth Summit is an event championed by the Junior Professional Associates (JPA) Program in collaboration with other units at The World Bank Group (WBG).
Before the summit, a Development Case Study Competition aims to provide youth with the opportunity to propose innovative solutions and business products for real development issues that the WBG and external partners are striving to solve.
The summit will feature notable panelists of the development community, and will provide a forum for young people from around the globe to share innovative ideas and solutions to current development challenges to create opportunities for youth employment and job creation.
Eligibility
The Development Case Competition is open to anyone who is 18-35 years old, anywhere in the world. Participants can compete individually or join in teams of 2 to 5 individuals.
Anyone can attend the Youth Summit without having participated in the Case Study Competition.
Eligible groups
Citizens of ANY country of the world are eligible
Participating Institutions
Individual persons from across the world; AND
Teams of individuals, from any part of the world, who decide to come together

Development Case Competition:
Unsolicited submissions will not be accepted for this competition. We are only accepting submissions on the four cases (theme and country) described below.

The theme for the Youth Summit is “Youth Entrepreneurship: Cultivating an innovative spirit to alleviate global youth unemployment”. The summit will address three areas: Youth Employment, Education, Millennial Communications – the use of social media and technology for development.
Number of awards
The evaluation committee will select one winner and one runner-up for each of the four development cases. The winners will be notified by September 10th.
Scholarship benefits
Development Case Competition:
Prizes will vary by case, but may include a trip to Washington, D.C. for the World Bank’s first Youth Summit and the chance to participate in project implementation.
Youth Summit:
The summit will celebrate the theme through a series of discussions, workshops, and a development marketplace. It will also feature notable panelists of the development community and will provide a forum for young people from around the globe to share innovative ideas and business products to create opportunities for employment.
Please note that the summit organizers cannot cover any expenses related to the Youth Summit 2013 (e.g. transportation to and from the event site, accommodation, daily allowance, etc).
Method of Application
Participants for the development case competition can only submit one solution in response to one of the four development cases. Send your final submissions (in one PDF document, less than 10 MB) to youthsummit@worldbank.org, including a duly filled out cover sheet. See official website for complete details.
The 2013 Youth Summit event is free and anyone is welcome to register. Please use this Event Registration Form on the official website (link to it is below) to register for the event.

The 2013 Youth Summit is to be held on October 3, 2013.
Please Note: The deadline for the submission of Proposals for the development case competition was initially September 1, but later extended to September 8, 2013. The development case competition is now closed.
PLEASE NOTE:
Winning selections (winners and runners-up) for each development case study are invited to the Youth Summit on October 3rd to present their winning proposals (either in person or by video-conference).
The organizers can issue a standard registration confirmation e-mail for registered attendees, but cannot endorse visa applicants.
It is the personal responsibility of the applicant to obtain a visa in time and to secure funds to attend the Youth Summit 2013.

Yes! The Development Case Competition is open to anyone who is 18-35 years old, anywhere in the world. Participants can compete individually or join in teams of 2 to 5 individuals.
> Can a team or individual provide a solution for more than one development case?
Participants can only submit one solution in response to one of the four development cases.
> Is attendance to the Youth Summit reserved for competition participants?
Anyone can attend the Youth Summit without having participated in the Case Study Competition. In fact, you are more than welcome to!
