Scholarship Description
Shell International Limited organizes the Shell Ideas360 as a global competition for both undergraduate and postgraduate students worldwide. Shell Ideas360 recruitment competition is a collaborative programme that invites students on an exciting journey of learning and discovery, nurturing the spirit of ideation and innovation.
Shell Ideas360 is more than a global competition that connects students to develop ideas to tackle the pressures on the world’s Food, Water and Energy resources. It’s an exciting journey of learning and discovery. Collaborate with like-minded innovators, Shell experts and mentors to expand your horizons.
All undergraduate and postgraduate students are encouraged to participate in the 2016-2017 Shell Ideas360 Global Student Competition. Interested students who meet the criteria as below may apply.
Eligibility
Participation in the Competition is open to any person who:
- is, or will be aged 18 or over by May 31, 2017; and
- is currently studying (and is officially registered to continue studying until at least May 31, 2014) as a full time undergraduate or postgraduate at a recognised, degree awarding university or other equivalent higher education establishment.
Citizens of ALL countries may apply. This is a global competition.

Any theme or idea of yours towards developing “game-changing ideas for tackling energy, water and food issues.”

Five individuals or teams are to be selected per school to progress to the final stage of the Competition
Scholarship benefits
There will be a range of great prizes on offer in the Shell Ideas360 competition, as well as other benefits to students for taking part:
- Main Prize. A National Geographic Expedition for the winning team members, chosen from a range of available trips.
- Stage 3 Teams. The five teams or individuals selected for Stage 3 of the competition will be flown out to Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in order to present their idea to the judging panel at the Shell Eco-Marathon event in May 2014.
- Stage 2 Prizes. Every participant that is selected for Stage 2 of Shell Ideas360 will receive a one year subscription (print and digital) to National Geographic Magazine.
In addition, Shell has a free 3-month subscriptions to WIRED’s interactive digital edition (accessible on iPad, iPhone and Kindle Fire) to give away to everybody who submits a final idea to the Shell Ideas360 competition by 16 December 2013 in accordance with the competition terms and conditions. - Additional Prizes. A selection of National Geographic prizes for participants including: wall maps, atlases, science books, and photographic prints from the National Geographic picture library.

Method of Application
You may register on the official website (link to it is below) to participate in Shell Ideas360 or sign up with your Facebook or LinkedIn account. Register and join the Shell Ideas360 community and submit your idea. The stages of the competition are as follows:
STAGE 1 (3 SEPTEMBER 2013 - 16 DECEMBER 2013)
Registration: Register and set up your personal profile. You can enter as an individual or as part of a team of up to three people. Formulate and submit your idea.
Develop an innovative idea related to Energy, Water or Food. Use your workspace to share draft ideas with the Shell Ideas360 community, submitting your final idea for evaluation by 16 December 2013.
STAGE 2 (20 JANUARY - 31 MARCH 2014)
Develop your idea. Up to 100 teams/participants will be selected to develop their idea with support from a Shell Mentor and Subject Matter Experts, and demonstrate in more detail why Shell should invest in it.
STAGE 3 (16 APRIL - 15 MAY 2014)
Final presentation and selection. Five teams/participants will be invited to present their idea at the Final Event in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The winner will be selected and announced at the end of this event.

The competition is organised by Shell International Limited for students to develop “game-changing ideas for tackling energy, water and food issues.” Shell believes human ingenuity holds the key to unlocking innovative thinking. This competition is a way of fostering innovation and, potentially, turning your ideas into reality.
Shell Ideas360 involves a number of key stages. In Stage 1, participants register and submit an initial idea. The ideas are evaluated and teams selected through to Stage 2 will develop their ideas in conjunction with Shell Mentors and Subject Matter Experts. Stage 3 will see five finalists selected to present their idea to a panel of judges.
