Scholarship Description
The Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) is pleased to announce that it starts to accept applications to its 2014 International Internship Program (TIGP-IIP) in January 2014.

Launched in 2009, the TIGP-IIP is an intensive pre-doctoral research training program that prepares its participating interns with the necessary knowledge and skills for future research or career development through rigorous hands-on training.

In collaboration with top-ranking local research universities, the TIGP would like to invite outstanding young scholars from around the globe to experience Taiwan’s top-notch scientific research facilities and to participate in building an intellectual network of people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Eligibility
The TIGP-IIP welcomes applications from overseas candidates of the following status:
  1. Undergraduate students who will have been conferred a B.S. degree by August 2015.
  2. Students pursuing a Master’s degree and holding a B.S. degree.
  3. Individuals holding a B.S. or Master’s degree (student’s pursuing a PhD degree are not eligible for this category)

Citizens of ALL countries of the world

Top-ranked Taiwanese research universities

Sponsorship duration
This is a 2 month program, which will take place between May and August 2014.

Scholarship benefits
TIGP and the hosting PI will together offer NTD 30,000/month-tax free (~USD 1000) for two months. (TIGP will provide a monthly stipend of NTD 20,000/months and the sponsoring faculty will provide additional monthly stipend of NTD 10,000/ month).

In addition, one way airfare at economy class will be provided to participating interns upon completion of the training program.

Method of Application
Applications should be submitted via an on-line application system which will be accessible at all times from 1st January, 2014 until its scheduled closing date of 28th February 2014.

If you have already applied for admission to TIGP 2014 doctoral program, use the same account and password to log onto the TIGP IIP on-line application system; your relevant data will be automatically retrieved and copied into your IIP application file, and the TIGP-IIP administrative team will authenticate your original copies, recommendation letters, and academic transcripts upon your completion of the TIGP application.

DEADLINES:
The TIGP-IIP-2014 on-line application period starts 1st January 2014 and ends 28th February 2014.

PLEASE NOTE:
A list of successful candidates with their hosting mentors will be posted/announced on the TIGP website (http://tigp.sinica.edu.tw) by the last week of March or first week of April 2014.

All applicants will be informed of the results through e-mail.

Admitted interns will be provided with a letter of acceptance issued by the TIGP office, which can be used for processing your visa for your internship in Taiwan.

The TIGP is a unique all-English Ph.D. program supported by Academia Sinica, the most prestigious research institution in Taiwan.

The Academia Sinica (literally "Central Research Academy"; "Chinese Academy" in Latin), headquartered in the Nangang District of Taipei, is the national academy of Taiwan. It supports research activities in a wide variety of disciplines, ranging from mathematical and physical sciences, to life sciences, and to humanities and social sciences.
