Scholarship Description
The London South Bank University (LSBU) is happy to offer the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships for international students who are desirous of pursuing their graduate studies at the school.

At LSBU, the school understands how important a postgraduate degree is to career progression and professional fulfilment, and that is why it offers the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarships made possible by donations from alumni and other supporters.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship programme offers a range of awards from £1,000 bursaries to full fee waivers, creating opportunities for a variety of postgraduate students, including: Excellence Award, Merit Award, Alumni Award, the Research Award and the Community Award. Eligible students are encouraged to apply.

Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships - Excellence Award

Eligibility
Apply for a scholarship if you hold a conditional or unconditional offer for one of LSBU's postgraduate programmes. Study can be either full- or part-time. Courses taken across more than one year will be paid on a pro-rata basis, with the total amount not exceeding £8,000.

General Criteria:
  • Academic excellence (qualifications obtained from outside the UK will be assessed for equivalency using Enic-Naric)
  • Evidence of an applicant's commitment to their future career and previous practical or academic achievement.
Minimum selection criteria:
1). Excellence Award: A first-class honours undergraduate degree from any UK university (or international equivalent), plus evidence of key academic, professional and practical achievements. Achievements should be at national or international level and demonstrate local impact.

2). Merit Award: A minimum 2.1 in an undergraduate degree (from any university), plus evidence of key extra-curricular or entrepreneurial activities.

3). Alumni Award: A minimum 2.1 undergraduate degree (from LSBU), plus evidence of key achievements in extra-curricular activities.

4). Research Award: Application for a MPhil, PhD or Professional Doctorate programme at LSBU.

5). Community Award: A minimum 2.2 undergraduate degree from any university, plus evidence of your significant contribution to the local community of Lambeth, Southwark or Lewisham, i.e. involvement in specific community projects, volunteering and other civic engagement.

Scholarship benefits
The value of the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships include:
  1. Excellence Award: Fee waiver, not exceeding £8,000 in total, for a postgraduate programme at LSBU, plus a £1,000 cash award.
  2. Merit Award: £1,000 cash award with an additional £1,000 off your fees for your postgraduate programme at LSBU.
  3. Alumni Award: £1,000 cash award
  4. Research Award: £1,000 cash award
  5. Community Award: £1,000 cash award
Method of Application
If you do not currently hold a conditional or unconditional offer simply apply to one of LSBU postgraduate taught courses or research degree. You can apply online via email after you firmly accept your unconditional or conditional offer to study at LSBU. We recommend you apply for your place at LSBU as soon as possible to ensure you have been made an offer and have time to complete your scholarship application.

To submit your application, complete the 2017-2018 application form (PDF) and send via email to pgscholarships@lsbu.ac.uk along with scans of your university transcripts/certificates evidencing your degree classification. Your application will not be considered without these.

Scholarships are awarded primarily on academic merit and evidence of applicants' commitment to their future career and their previous practical or academic achievement. Selection is made by a scholarship panel. Their decision is final and no appeals will be received.

London South Bank University (LSBU) is a public university located in Southwark, London, United Kingdom. It is based in the London Borough of Southwark, near the South Bank of the River Thames, from which it takes its name. Founded from charitable donations in 1892 as the "Borough Polytechnic Institute", it absorbed several other local colleges in the 1970s and 1990s, and achieved university status in 1992.
