Scholarship Description
On September 1, 2015, online plagiarism detector Unplag launched its Student Scholarship from Unplag contest. It’s an attractive opportunity for all current students who want to receive some extra funding for educational purposes and show their talent in writing essays.
The Student Scholarship from Unplag contest grants a one-time scholarship award of $2,000; in addition to two other awards of annual subscriptions.
Eligibility
Students aged 18 or older who are currently enrolled in full-time undergraduate or graduate programs from anywhere in the world are eligible to enter the contest.
To enter the competition, students must write a 500-word essay in English (each student can submit only one essay). They can either choose one of the topics suggested by Unplag or create their own.
Here is the list with 10 possible essay topics from which participants could choose:
- Academic cheating can deprive you of a successful career.
- Being original will soon become a trend.
- Technologies able to fight academic cheating.
- Does online education "promote" academic dishonesty?
- Can plagiarism be eliminated once and for all?
- Plagiarism addiction kills creativity and critical thinking.
- How does the digital age influence plagiarism and cheating?
- Is social networking causing a plagiarism problem?
- Cross-culture differences concerning plagiarism.
- What if some of my educators were found guilty of plagiarism?
Selection criteria:
Selection process divides into two rounds. At first round a committee, which involved team members of Unplag company and professional educators invited by scholarship provider will choose the best of the submitted essays depending on their quality and applicability. The main criteria of choice will be originality of the essay and its writing quality. On the second stage the Committee of scholarship provider will choose 3 main finalists. They will be encouraged to create a short video about themselves and their achievements in the study.
Feedback and comments from finalists’ teachers and classmates are welcomed too as they will also be considered by the Committee.
Depending on all received information about main finalists, the Committee will choose the scholarship recipient. Two other finalists will receive annual subscriptions to Unplag service and could use it for their studying purposes as well.

Scholarship benefits
A one time, non-renewable Scholarship in the amount of $2,000 will be made payable to the award recipient's university or college to be used for qualified education expenses including tuition, course related expenses, books and supplies.
Method of Application
Applications are accepted online; every participant should submit only 1 essay and along with the submitted essay should fill the online form. In this form every participant leaves the information which include his name, attending school, major and email (for one-time notification in case of a win)

PLEASE NOTE:
During the submission period, an independent committee of educators together with the Unplag team will select the most engaging works to be published on the Unplag blog. The scholarship winner will be announced on March 9, 2016 and notified via email. Two more winners will be granted annual subscriptions to Unplag as an award.
All winners will receive notifications about their succeed to emails which they left when submitted their essays.
Unplag.com is a plagiarism detection engine designed specially for educators and students. It was launched in November 2014 with the aim to promote unique writing and has been presented at several international events including Online Educa 2014 in Berlin, Germany, and the Bett Show 2015 in London, UK.
