Scholarship Description
The Google Science Fair is a global online science and engineering competition open to individuals and teams from ages 13 to 18. Submit a science or engineering project and win unbelievable prizes.
Throughout history many great scientists developed their curiosity for science at an early age and went on to make groundbreaking discoveries that changed the way we live. In partnership with the LEGO Group, National Geographic and Scientific American, Google is offering the annual Google Science Fair to find the next generation of scientists and engineers.
The Google science fair is inviting students ages 13-18 to participate in the largest online science competition and submit their ideas to change the world.
Eligibility
Students aged between 13 to 18. You’ll be placed in a category based on your age or the age of the oldest team member on the day of opening of competition (i.e. 21 February 2016.)
Only one submission can be accepted - no matter how many brilliant ideas you have, the program can accept only one submission from each student--either your own project, or as part of a team.

Your project is entirely online! Before you start, check out the For Participants section for all the details of how to create your project. Be sure to read the Official Rules carefully, because certain kinds of projects may not be allowed. For clarification of what you can (and can’t) do, see the Experiment Guidelines.
Number of awards
There will be Regional finalists, Community impact winners and Global finalists.
The 16 global finalists, along with a parent or guardian, will travel to Google headquarters in Mountain View, California to present their project to the judges and compete for the awards listed below.
Scholarship benefits
The Grand Prize winner will receive $50,000 in scholarship funding.
The $50,000 Google scholarship is intended to further the Grand Prize winner’s education. If a team wins the prize, the scholarship’s value will be divided equally among the teammates.
If your Science Fair submission is something you built to solve an engineering challenge, you’ll be eligible to win the Virgin Galactic Pioneer Award or the LEGO® Education Builder Award.
If your project offers a new way to look at the world, asking questions and answering them with experimentation, you’ll be eligible to win the National Geographic Explorer Award or Scientific American Innovator Award.
Method of Application
Students can sign up starting on the competition opening day by visiting the official website, and clicking the "Register" button. You can register alone, or in groups of 2 or 3. However, first things first, do you have a Google account? If not, you’ll need to sign up for a free one. Once you have your account, you can register for the competition.
Next, use the project site builder to tell about your experiment or engineering project. Remember, all entries must be submitted by the deadline date. Finally, when you submit, set all your project materials to public so that the judges can view them.

HELPFUL HINTS
Here are some helpful hints to give your idea the best chance of winning:
- Everyone should carefully read the Science Fair official rules found on the website.
- Safety is important. Do not use any dangerous chemicals, or ever harm any animals.
- You must have a parent’s permission to enter.
- Remember, you are not permitted to use any brands, logos or music, unless you yourself created it.
Competitions open for projects at 12:00 BST on 21 February 2016; and close at 07:59 BST on 18 May 2016. Try this handy time zone calculator to find out what time submissions close in your time zone.

Regional finalists and Community impact winners to be announced at 18:00 BST on 18 July 2016. Global finalists to be announced at 18:00 BST on 11 August 2016. Awards celebration is at 05:00 BST on 28 September 2016.

Google Inc. is an American multinational technology company specializing in Internet-related services and products. These include online advertising technologies, search, cloud computing, and software. Most of its profits are derived from AdWords, an online advertising service that places advertising near the list of search results.
Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were Ph.D. students at Stanford University. They incorporated Google as a privately held company on September 4, 1998.
