Scholarship Description
Bayer Foundations, involved in Promoting Talents Across Borders through its International Fellowship Program is happy to offer the Jeff Schell Scholarship for students and young professionals in the fields of agro sciences, digital farming, agronomy, crop sciences, green biotechnology, environmental sciences and sustainability.
The program Jeff Schell Scholarship is for international students who would like to study, research or complete an internship in Germany, and also for German students and young professionals with up to two years work experience who would like to do a study project or gain practical work experience outside Germany.
Every year, the Bayer Fellowship Program targets students and apprentices in scientific and medical disciplines to support the next generation of researchers and teachers as they engage in “Science for a Better Life”. See also the Bayer Fellowship Programs for Africans.
Eligibility
The Jeff Schell Scholarship is open to students of:
- Agricultural sciences and agronomy
- Crop protection, seeds and green biotechnology
- Digital Farming
- Environmental sciences and agricultural sustainability
The scholarship can be used for special study courses, individual laboratory assignments, summer schools, research classes, internships, or Master’s or PhD theses.
Note: Scholarships are granted exclusively to students from Germany wishing to study abroad, or to foreign students who are interested in a study project in Germany. This program is not open to postdoc students.

Scholarship benefits
The financing generally covers the cost of living, travel expenses and project costs. Each applicant is asked to set up an individual cost schedule to be approved by the Foundation Council.
Method of Application
You need to apply online via the official website. However, access to the Online application form is only accessible during the application period (see deadline below). See also the Bayer Fellowship Programs for Africans.
The following application documents are required for the Jeff Schell Scholarship:
- Confirmation letter from the foreign host institute/university on the planned project from September 2017 to August 2018
- A description of the project (duration of 2-12 months) with financial plan within the timeline of September 2017 to August 2018. The project can consist of special study courses, laboratory assignments, research projects, summer classes, internships, Master’s or PhD programs.
- Most recent transcripts
- Any additional documents that would enhance the application
- Job application photo (no photo of your passport, please)
DEADLINES:
The next round of applications will start on 1st June 2018, and end 18th July 2018. All applications must be submitted between this period i.e. between June 1-July 18, 2018
