Higher education in Denmark is free for several categories of international students. This applies if you are from the EU/EEA and Switzerland, if you are participating in an exchange programme for your studies in Denmark, and also if you belong to the group of students as explained below.
You do not pay for tuition if you at the time of application have the following: a). Permanent residence permit; b). Temporary residence permit that can be upgraded to a permanent one; or c). Residence permit as the accompanying child of a non-EU/EEA parent holding a residence permit based on employment.
All other students must pay tuition fees. Annual tuition fees for full-degree students range between Euro 6,000-16,000 (DKK 45,000-120,000). To ease this burden and attract excellent non-EU/EEA students, the Danish Government and Danish Institutions provide a number of scholarships for international students for study in Denmark.

The Danish Government Scholarships under the Cultural Agreements are aimed at highly qualified exchange students and young researchers wishing to immerse themselves in studies of the Danish language and culture or other fields of study related to Denmark. Scholarships are only available to master’s and PhD-level students. Some Danish Universities offer a number of Masters and Doctoral courses which are funded by Erasmus Mundus Scholarships. The scholarships support international students to pursue a participating Erasmus Mundus study program in Denmark.

Danish higher education institutions receive a limited number of government scholarships each year to fund highly qualified full-degree students from non-EU/EEA countries and Switzerland. The IT University of Copenhagen offers state scholarships to three or four exceptionally talented MSc applicants (full-degree students) from outside EU and EEA every year. Each year the University College of Northern Denmark applies a number of scholarships for non-EU citizens enrolled on a study programme at UCN. Danida Fellowship Centre (DFC) on behalf of Danida, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Denmark, calls for applications for MSc Scholarships under the Building Stronger Universities Programme which aim to provide talented students from South partner universities with the opportunity to obtain a master’s degree from a Danish university in order to contribute to the development of their countries. Bachelor graduates from participating universities in Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda, and Nepal are eligible to apply.
